‘tis but a scratch

No time for a proper post today so I thought I’d share a laugh.

Pity about the picture quality but it’s worth watching anyway. This is one of my favourite scenes from one of my favourite movies, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. My #1 ranked comedy is actually ‘Life of Brian’ also by Monty Python but this clip tells anyone all they need to know about my sense of humour .

….dry, anarchic and juvenile

I was 10 years old when Holy Grail was released in 1975.

Off to bed now as it was a tough Monday and it’s nearly 10pm already. I’ve had nowhere near enough sleep recently.

Sleep tight, don’t let the bedbugs bite.

  2. It feels weird reading you had a tough Monday, when I've just got up Monday Morning.

My fav is also Life of Brian. My Dad is a big Monty Python fan, he use to have every episode on VHS (before the DVD was invented) and wants them all on DVD now.

One of my fav lines "He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy" (or something like that, I can't remember exactly how it goes)

  3. Great clip and great movie. I went to a Catholic high school and our religion teacher would show this movie all the time on special occasions, like the day before Christmas Break. I told him I thought this movie was hilarious and he agreed, and when I asked him if he could bring in "Life of Brian" sometime his face immediately changed to stone-cold. "That movie is sacrilegious."

Apparently he's a fan of one but views the other as blasphemy? All I know is, if you're a comedy group and can pull off being hailed as brilliant and blasphemous at the same time, you're doing something right.

  4. My friends and I loved Monty Python, back in the day. We used to say our favorite parts of the movies to each other to get a laugh, in our best British voice imitation.

When Life of Brian came out, my Dad forbid me to see because of its Christian mockery. I saw it anyway.

It will come as no surprise to anyone who knows me on this blog what I remember most of LoB. The song they sing at the end of the film and one line in particular, "Life is a piece of shit, when you think of it." Sorry, I was turned into a Newt there for a moment...But, I got better. :)
