Classic hotties

Here are a few of my favourite stars from the 50s and 60s and the movies in which I ‘discovered’ them decades later.  Prior to coming across these movies I believed, with the profound arrogance of youth, that no preceding generation had ever been as attractive as my own. I was confusing fashion with good looks.

Marlon Brando. A Streetcar named Desire, 1951

Montgomery Clift. From Here to Eternity. 1953.

James Dean. Rebel without a Cause. 1955.

Paul Newman. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. 1958.

Gregory Peck. To Kill a Mocking bird. 1962.

Steve McQueen. Bullitt. 1968.

I watched Streetcar again recently and was struck again by the primal good looks of Brando in that movie. It still rocks my boat when he takes off that fitting T-shirt early in first few scenes, hence this post.

Who would you have on your list from the 1950s and 1960s?

  1. OH Gosh yeah, Gregory Peck for sure. And Paul Newman will always be a favourite, my dear departed dad had the same beautiful blue eyes, after he died I couldn't watch a PN movie for quite a while.

  4. You know I can't think of any one who made me swoon from back then. I am probably far to young to remember them.

  8. Marilyn, Marilyn, Marilyn. No contest. I mean just look at her walk in Some Like It Hot. But for pure beauty in the 50's, Liz.

Going to go take a cold shower now.

  9. Bob I did strongly consider Rock but decided against as he didn't have the same impact on me as the above crew did.

Lori E, I didn't get to see and apreciate these guys until the 1980's but I sure did appreciate them when I got there finally.

Kimberley - yummy eh? Plus a big Quiet LIfe welcome. C'mon back now y'hear.

Joanne - yes Gregory Peck is lovely. I especially liked him as Attacus cause he's a great dad and a great man.
