Rhododendron 'Jolie Madame'

I have 2 of these in my tiny garden and I love them.

  1. Rhodos are very popular up here in our rain forest. Giant beasts of 15 feet high when they are happy. Many years ago (100+)there was a lady living up the very rugged coast of B.C. who started a mail order business with her rhodos. She shipped them world wide
She was quite a character and some books have been written about her life.
Of course when your nickname is Cougar Granny and you are known for your marksmanship and there is speculation as to what has really to a couple of your husbands I guess there is enough to write about.

  2. This is a welcome visual relief from your last post...whew. I was beginning to worry about you.

  3. Ahhh that is so much better - gorgeous!!! My rhodos only lasted a couple of days. Just as they bloomed we were pounded with rain (last rain we have had though)

  4. They look a lot like azaleas. Very nice after a long day.

  5. Yes they're beautiful. These ones are large shrubs that grow to about 1.5 metres high. The big Rhodo trees do beautifully here in Auckland too. I love the blood red ones. Spring is a riot of colour in my neighbourhood and yes Punch azaleas are a type of Rhodo I think.
