Bon Voyage

I’m enjoying watching the progress and reading the daily posts of young Australian adventurer Jessica Watson who is attempting to become the youngest person to sail solo, nonstop and unassisted around the world. She’s 16.

Check out her website here http://www.jessicawatson.com.au/ and her blog here http://www.youngestround.blogspot.com/

There was considerable controversy about whether the voyage was a good idea but that’s now moot so I just hope she stays safe and doesn’t encounter anything she can’t cope with. She’s gotten as far as Tonga to date and is making reasonable time.

I wish her the very best of luck. She’s very brave.

  3. Yes, congratulations to her indeed, though to me, as someone interested in technology, it’s fascinating to see how much has changed in the last few decades to make such a thing possible.

  4. Wow, she is terribly brave. I'm glad she is trying to fulfill her dream. Too many people let their dreams die on the vine. She will never have to worry about looking back and wondering what might have happened if she had tried. She's living it!

  5. Wow, what an adventure. I envy her....which isn't to say I would have sailed around the world at 16, I could barely get the car keys to drive to the mall.

  6. I am on the side of she is too young but as you said its too late now. I remember the case of the Dutch girl age 13 that her parents were going to let her do the same.

I want to see this end very very well.

  8. Thank you for posting this link. I'm now following her, too. I don't even like to think of my daughter driving a car...I want to see this story have a very good ending.
