Friday flowers

I spotted this the other day and it thought it showed an interesting contrast; the presumably self sown but still formal and elegant pale lavender Iris existing happily alongside our wild and raggedy native Toi Toi grass.  The Toi Toi (pronounced toy toy) plume can grow up to 3 metres tall.

  1. Oooh! Pretty! Love the contrast....great shot!

You're SO LUCKY to see spring, Lou! I'm gonna be jealous for the next 6 months!

  2. Your toi toi looks like what we call pampas grass. I had one in front of my house and the plumes could be seen in the second story window. However the strappy leaves were like razor blades and we had to pull it out....with a crane truck. That is one tough plant.
Let me say again it is so nice to have you back.

  3. Three meters???
    That's no grass, that's a tree!!

  4. Did you know that Iris is my all time favourite flower - thanks for this today (a rainy miserable fall day) brightened it up immensely.

Are you back online fulltime now???

  5. Yes I am back Joanne and the Iris is one of my favs too - 'puter issues all fixed and am fully operational again though finding myself with less to say right now. No doubt that will come right again very soon and the verbal diarrhea will recommence with gusto.

  6. The contrast of the iris against the grass is lovely Lou.

Make my day and leave a comment. C'mon you can do it.
